Here is a side by side photo of the two devices:
I am so impressed with how far Android has come since it was orginally released. The Android Market is growing, obviously no where near the size of the Apple iTunes App Store. Developers have embraced the "open source" model, and have developed some really good apps.
Being in IT, I'm responsible for providing secure mobile access to corporate email via mobile devices. I'm current testing Good Mobile Messaging for Android on both of these devices. The client works really well so far. I'm impressed at how well the first build works. I like it much better than the iPhone client. Anyways..... enough of that.
Compared to alot of other devices that are currently available, the HTC Eris (aka HTC Hero) is very thin and light weight. The DROID is fairly thin but heavier. You can get a general idea from this picture I took:
Starting on the left is the HTC Imagio, HTC Eris, Motorola DROID, HTC Tilt 2, and Motorola Q 9 Global. They all are about the same general size and shape. All four to the right have touch screens.... the Android devices have better touch screens... I'm still testing out the battery life to compare it to Windows Mobile and Apple's iPhone. So far so good...
Now I just need to go and find a good app in the Android Market for managing my blog. :)
Overall... if you are a Verizon customer and in the market for a new phone, I highly recommend you check out both of these devices. You won't be disappointed!!
Until next time....
